Wow!  Where to start?  Larry is amazed he made it to the NYC marathon.  There was more than a little nervousness before hand.  37,000 humans.... and 1 lighthouse.  So many people from all around the world coming here to race.  It was so humbling.  And Larry felt really lucky to be here.

A little doubt started to set in.  Will I make it to the finish line in one piece?  The confidence that Larry had after the New Jersey Marathon had faded quite bit.  That was a while ago.  And New York is a very tough course.  On the bridge Larry heard the lyrics from the song "If you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere."  Okay.... let's give it everything I have....I am here...and now is my chance to light the way for the runners.

Larry was so impressed with the outpouring of affection.  I have never seen so many people so excited to see me!  I felt like a bigger star than Lance Armstrong.  It was very inspiring.  Through every turn there were thousands of fans on street corners.  New York is an incredible place.  They really know how to cheer!  Larry at times forgot he was doing a marathon.  It felt like a parade.  By half-way the miles were already starting to wear a little.  Climbing Pulaski bridge was tough.  And the 59th Street Bridge seemed to be endless.... and quiet.  Coming off the bridge onto First avenue was an incredible boost.  There were so many people waiting to see Larry.  Larry got his second wind.  And he was feeling great.

Mile 20-21 was tough.... it was such a long way to go.  And Larry was losing power.  But coming into Central Park was very familiar territory.  And Larry knew he was almost there.  It was getting dark and Larry's beacon was shining bright.  Wow... I can light the way to the finish line.  Larry lit up the finish line to the amazement of many and finished his first New York City Marathon in 6:48.
