Even Larry takes vacations! Camp Sunshine is such an amazing, amazing, place. Camp Sunshine is a retreat for children with life-threatening illness and their families. It is free of charge.... relying on your donations.
To actually see how well-organized the camp is run and be apart of it was really so moving. Camp Sunshine recruits the most enthusiastic, caring, volunteers that you will ever meet. All the volunteers go out of their way to make the camp such an enjoyable experience.
In addition to the caring staff and volunteers, what really makes the camp work is the great ideas that are put into events. Everyday and every evening there is some exciting event going on to really look forward to. To see all the kids dressed up for the masquerade night.... and dancing was something I'll always remember. At the end of camp is a moving wishboat launch. The wishboats are built by campers and a candle is lit at the center of the boat before it is launched into the pond. The campers are encouraged to make a wish right before the launch.
